Sh3d has built and managed batteries systems for 2 decades, from lead acid solar systems to tiny embedded systems running on a single AA battery for years.

The WII wave buoys have been built to run in sleep for years, in full capture mode for months. And to automatically switch between capture, low power and sleep modes, fully automatically - increasing chances of longevity, reliability and recovery.

Battery maangement is done at low level, and higher level CPU and Power drains are slowly turned off to enablee GPS and Communications to continue to run to allow a device to be found.
